It’s never too early (or too late!) learn to ride a two-wheeler! Kids of all ages and grown-ups, too, can Learn to Ride a bike using the tried-and-true “balance bike” method. It’s easy, it’s fun, and it’s a skill that will last a lifetime! Join the fun, and this FREE opportunity to Learn to Ride!
Learn to Ride is a not-for-profit, 100% volunteer series of events to grow Charlotte’s cycling community one new cyclist at a time. Learn to Ride is made possible in partnership with Bicycle Sport and Trips for Kids Charlotte, with support from Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation, Mecklenburg County Public Health, and well-run media + marketing.
The event is geared to kids (of all ages!) and parents of kids, who want to learn to ride a bicycle without training wheels. Parents should bring their kids, their kids’ bikes and helmets. Don't have a bike or helmet? Don't worry - we have loaners! We’ll walk the soon-to-be-riders through the process, which is to sign in, check bike and helmet fit, remove training wheels and pedals, and lower the seat so the rider can stand comfortably over the bike. When the time’s right, we’ll reinstall the pedals – and turn this “balancing act” into practice with the pedals in motion!
No advance sign ups are necessary - just show up ready to have fun!
